Fermentation méthanique d'effluents vinicoles : utilisation d'un inoculum adapté

The feasability of the anaerobic treatment of winery wastewaters was studied at the laboratory level in an infinitely mixed fermentor with sequential feeding and the bacteria of the effluent reinjected into the fermentor. With stabilized loading and a volumic load of 31 kg/m3/d, an epuratory yield of 91% and a biogas productivity of 0,4 l COD/g were obtained for an hydraulic retention time of 1 day. An inoculum of hydrogenotrophic methanogenic bacteria isolated from the fermentor (Methanobacterium spp.) was produced in continuous culture. ARM Biotechnology tested during the 1995 harvest at the Goult-Lumière's Winery Cooperative (Vaucluse), a 5 m3 pilot digestor with separated stages: infinitely mixed acidogenesis and anaerobic filter for methanogenesis with porous glass as support. The methanogenic fermentor was inoculated with the hydrogenotrophic methanogenic bacteria and the mixed inoculum prepared in the laboratory. The average results obtained demonstrated an epuratory yield of 80% of COD for an average loading of 20,000 mg COD/l . A full size plant was built at the same winery for the 1996 harvest with an aerobic filter constituted with a bacterial immerged blanket and aerated by a microbuble diffuser, and a clarificator for sludge recuperation. The results were similar to those obtained with the 5 m3 pilot. An epuratory yield of 96.8% of COD was obtained for the aerobic biofilter, for an average loading of 4,000 mg COD/l.
